The foundation of KB Mental Performance is the belief that every athlete, performer, and coach can utilize performance psychology skills to enhance their craft and overall well-being.

With experience working with performers of all ages and at all levels from youth to collegiate to national and international teams, we’re committed to meeting you where you are and taking an individualized approach to reach your goals.

Why Us?

  • We don’t offer plans, workbooks, session limits, or any type of “one size fits all approach.” We believe that high quality mental performance work is individualized, constantly evolving to meet your needs, and goes beyond teaching you skills and strategies. As such, we take the time to understand why you are experiencing difficulties preventing you from being your best and we give space to breaking this “‘why” down. We want you to deepen your understanding of yourself, capitalize on your strengths, and promote growth. (And we don’t think this happens by throwing skills at everyone.) Finally, we approach you as a person, not just a performer/athlete.

  • We could have stopped after completing our master’s degrees in Sport & Exercise Psychology but we committed to doctoral level (PhD) education and training to ensure you have the most knowledgeable consultants possible. We have provided over 600 hours of mental performance services to elite athletes including those competing at the Division I, national, and international levels. Our clients have gone on to win national and international championships and set American records. Further, we remain actively involved in and committed to advancing the field of Sport & Exercise Psychology. We present yearly at the largest sport and exercise psychology conference in North America and remain active members and leaders in American Psychological Association and Association of Applied Sport Psychology organizations.

  • Our consulting philosophies and practices are rooted in research. We have a rich understanding of how people learn, grow, and perform, which informs everything we do. We also prioritize the consultant-athlete relationship in our work, which research consistently shows is needed for productivity and change. This doesn’t just mean we want you to feel comfortable and supported. We strive to create relationships that let you seek discomfort and challenge yourself. Finally, because we are actively involved in research in the field, we ensure our practices are constantly developing and improving with what the research shows helps performers be their best.

  • We keep our practice small so that we can provide top-tier services to all of our clients. We know the time and resources required for quality consulting and do not sacrifice this for the sake of taking on more clients. We engage in regular professional development, research, mentoring, and consultation to ensure we continue to grow. We demonstrate our committment to the quality of our services by regularly seeking feedback from our clients.
